This probably seems pretty basic but… I’ve played with this all afternoon to no avail.

Trying to stream from new PC with win8 to TV… wdLIVE keeps asking for Username & pw for my desltop. Maybe I need windows help instead but… I’ve input my pw from my pc’s start screen…I’ve also tried the pw from windows media player upon media server setup.

Not sure what its looking for…??? I’ve input my few username/pw’s that I have accumulated so faR.

Any help is appreciated.

Use the name and password of the main user you’re logged in with when accessing your Win 8 PC. OR create a user wdtv and add him to the allowed user list of your media share. In some cases a firewall has been reported to block the connection (not the Win 8 built-in).

I have Windows 8.1 and streaming works for me. Eg: on the PC click right on a videoand select “Play to” in the menu, it proposes “wdtv”, then video is seen on the TV screen. An alternative is using the Metro UI with IE or Windows media player and selecting the wdtv in the “devices” menu read entry of the CHARM toolbar.

Note that there was some problems with windows shares and network credentials in last 2.01.86 firmware, but the previous 1.16.13 firmware works OK for me.
