m3u format

I'm trying to play an m3u playlist, but whenever I try to load the playlist I get an error saying "no content in the folder".

\\nas\tv\Californication-S05E04-WaitingfortheMiracle-11807507-0.ts

That's the content of one m3u I'm trying to play.  The file path listed there is valid - I can even go to that file directly on the WDTV and play it back with no problems.

Is the file path format expected to be different?

Re: m3u format

That's an "absolute" path, with a Windows URI.

That's not going to work.   Your paths need to be RELATIVE.

Re: m3u format

So playlists can only play files on the same disk where the playlist is located?  A playlist can't point to files on other devices on the LAN?

Re: m3u format

In general, yes.

I am GUESSING that it might be possible to "back into" some common path internally, and then to paths to go across disks, something like:

From Server 1:

../../servername2/share/path...

but that would require expirementation to determine what WD's internal paths are.

One thing to try is to look at the PATHS that are shown when you bring up the OPTIONS menu when playing back video files.  (I can't remember if audio files show the path when doing that.)
