As far as I know, Apple movies are copy-protected, and must be streamed by the Apple TV or iThings, but I could be wrong.
Even so, with an Apple Digital A/V Adapter cable on the end of iPads, (gen2 to present iPads) will mirror what is on the iPad screen and audio. There are different adapters for the different iPads, too. I have one for the iPad 3; works great, but since I don’t rent movies from Apple, can’t tell you about that.
