Avi with dv video?

Hello.

I have a lot of avi files with video from dv tapes (as uncompressed dv, I dont want to lose any quality, since they are my archive). I understand that tv live cannot play them. Is there some probability for it to support dv in the future? If not, any ideas to what I should convert them so that I dnt lose any quality (size is not a problem).

According to the user manual the SMP supports avi files with the following codecs:

Video: AVC, DivX (3/4/5/6), MPEG4, M-JPEG (422), WMV3, WVC1 (VC1), Xvid

Audio: AAC, AC3, ADPCM, DTS, PCM, MPEG Audio.

You may try using a software to reencode your files, i.e. Handbrake.

Of course I read the manual, I was just asking for ideas. What would be the best codec to use, out of all these, if quality was the only factor? Any experience/ideas?
