WD TV Live does not list any mkv files

The files are on my laptop. The player only lists avi and mp4 files; none of the mkv show up. 

I have to convert mkv to mp4 for them to appear…

Why can’t the player see mkv files?

It can. It’s your media server on your laptop that can’t. Use network shares instead.
