Hi all,
I have recently purchased a WDTV Live. I have it connected wirelessly to my Netcomm Nb6Plus4Wn Router. It can connect to the internet and play youtube videos etc without a problem.
However I have not been able to connect the WDTV to my windows 7 Desktop on which I have shared folders. I can access the shared desktop folders from my Macbook (my just going to my pc’s IP address), so they are working.
I have spent the last 5 days searching various forums and trying different methods to get it to work but without any success.
When I go to Videos > Select Content Source > Media Shares > all I get is the spinning wheel. It just continues to spin and does nothing from there.
I have made sure that both the Desktop and WDTV have the same Workgroup name “WORKGROUP”.
On my desketop, the WDTV does not show up in Windows Explorer > Network either.
I have even tried setting up a Plex server on the desktop to try and use that but still nothing.
At this stage I have tried just about every method I have found on the net (minus the registry tweeks) and have not had any luck trying to folders/PC’s/Servers through either Media Shares or Media Server.
I have tried disabling the windows firewall - no luck
I have disabled windows 'homegroups - no luck
Any suggestions on what I could try would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers.
