I have an HFS-formatted USB drive attached to my WD TV Live SMP. From my Mac, I can mount that drive via SMB. However, the mount is read-only. That is, I cannot copy files to the drive over the network.
How do I fix this? Writing to the drive remotely is a critical feature for me.
“The USB drive will be read only (due to Linux based permission issues) if formatted as HFS+ (Journaled). No current Linux kernel can support writing to journalled HFS+ drives.”
The problem seems to have gone away by itself. Whenever I mount the drive, it’s read/write. I don’t know why it wasn’t working initially, but everything’s okay now.
