No Local Storage Found SOLVED

Solved for me at least and was the result of someone else’s post, but I wanted to get this out there for anyone who might have been in my shoes.

My issues was that WD TV Live was working fine while attached to local storage, then I went and added two movies to the external HD by connecting it to my Windows 8 computer.  When I reconnected the local storage I would get the NO LOCAL STORAGE PRESENT and no matter how many times I reset the WD TV Live or fiddled with the settings nothing worked.  Then I read that if the external HD is improperly disconnected from the CPU, WD TV Live may read that as a drive error and not load it.  The solution for me was use a CPU with Windows 7 (Windows 8 would not work properly for some reason) and run a “scan and fix errors” on the drive and then make sure to “safely remove hardward” before disconnecting the drive.  This worked perfectly.  Having gone through the initial frustration of all that useless troubleshooting, I hope this helps you out as well.
