I’ve got a WDTV (connected to my network by ethernet cable) with an external hard drive connected to my living room tv. I’ve set that hard drive up as a shared on my home network. If I get another WDTV Live and connected to the network on a different tv, will it play files from the hard drive attached to the other WDTV? I don’t want to have my computer on also.
I don’t see any reason why it wouldn’t
it will for sure be able to see the direct and contents
the one word of caution here is WD is very underpowered to use it as a server
and also your network set up will be be factor
so your milage may vary
