MKV File "Not a supported file format"

I have a BD rip that is not working on my WD Live SMP or on my older WD Live.

The rip is from a BD that had two movies on it - both were backed up in exactly the same way and both play in xbmc. The first movie plays on both WD TVs no issues, but the second will not play on either - they both give the message that “this is not a supported file format”…

Is anyone able to offer any ideas/solutions/advice?

Thanks

Edit: I have tried this movie as both mkv and mp4, and I get the same message regardless of container/format…

Please post the full TEXT output of MEDIAINFO for the non-working file.

Legibly enough…

If I had to guess, Handbrake is set to the wrong resolution.  1134 pixels is too “tall.”  The maximum allowed is 1080, which is as the BD would have been.  Your resulting Handbrake’d video is 54 pixels too tall.

Hmmm

I noticed that, but didn’t think it could cause an issue - I’ll try another run through Handbrake tonight…

Jackpot!

I did a fresh encode in Handbrake and manually set the resolution to make sure it didn’t exceed 1920x1080 - and it works no issues!

Thanks!

Now just to try and sort out the fact that the WD TV hangs every time I try and eject my drive and I end up having to reboot and eject it half a dozen times before it completes properly…

I think it “hangs” because something (either the WD itself, or more likely something on the network) is holding a file open.

It can’t EJECT it when a file handle is still open or it could corrupt data.
