Flac music not detected

I ripped some of my music cd’s to FLAC format. WHen i put the pen drive and search for music it says No media is available.

Here’s some info about the media taken from the application MediaInfo.

.fla isn’t a valid extension for FLAC.

It needs to be .flac

Dunno if it’s a “typo” or not … but you’re missing a “c” in the file extension

P.S. JCF2009 good taste in music … i like Evanescence as well

That seems is the problem. I ripped just a song to test and added the “c” and now is being read. It was not a typo. When i rip the cd’s is being codec as FLA. Computer read it anyway as a valid file. Hope WD make a new firmware adding FLA as valid too beacuse now i need to change all that songs lol. Thanks guys for the help.

Computers can play just about *anything* you can throw at them …

But when dealing with Media Players … you gotta follow the rules

If you need to rename 1000’s of .fla to .flac  there are plenty of batch file renaming programs out there …

Google Batch File Rename Freeware and try some out. (or find a audio ripper that provides the option to Output > .flac)

Your PC reads them as FLA = FLAC because your program added a file handler association for that extension.

If you’d told the PC to rip them as filename.asfljajjaslja, and added that association, they’d still play fine.

You can’t change the associations on the WD, that’s why the publish the regognized extensions in the manual.  :)

Using Bulk Renamer should take about 15 seconds to rename all your files.

Out of interest what program did you use to rip these files with an fla extension.

Used Nero with a free FLAC plug-in encoder i found.  I’m having another problem, but this time it with playslist.

 I have the songs on a usb pen drive inside\thumb drive connected directly to the WDTV LIVE STREAMING MEDIA PlAYER folders with the respective band, example HALESTORM, and each folder has a playlist.  Nero created the playlist, but it did not worked then i tried making the playlist with VLC Medis Player.
