Analog through the HDMI possible? Need Component output for my receiver

I am trying to set up a new WDTV Live for my mom after getting it for her as a present.  She has a setup with a receiver that outputs to the TV and speakers in Component for some reason, and it cannot convert any signal type (Composite or HDMI) to Component.

So i am looking at what i can do to get a Component input for my receiver, and found a couple options including:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005QWH4QA/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER.  This HDMI to Component cable might work, but in the comments they say “for SPECIFIC devices that push analog video through HDMI.”  Any chance the WDTV Live will do this?

If not, i might be looking at a bigger expense, like one of these:  http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BW0XXZ6/ref=ox_sc_act_title_4?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER converter units.

Any other suggestions on how i get this done?  I’d like to keep the quality up which is why i’m hesitant to output out of the composite A/V output.   Thanks in advance!

No, it won’t work.

First, keep in mind that you seem to be using the terms “Composite” and “Component” interchangeably.   They are NOT the same.

Even your second one won’t work – that converts to COMPONENT, not COMPOSITE.

But this player DOES have COMPOSITE output – why don’t you just use that?  It does NOT have COMPONENT.

Sorry, i was being an ■■■■■ and switched the terms.  I do know there is a difference, but got switched up on them while writting that, sorry and thanks for the response.  I’ve gone back and edited the orriginal post to actually make sense.  The input on the receiver is Component, not composite.

… so i take it the first option still wont work, but maybe now the second one will?

Thanks again

Probably, but I have no first-hand experience with anything like that…
