AVI problems

Hello,

I have some problems to read some AVI files on my WD TV Live.

The audio part is good but the video is freezing.

I can view this file perfectly on PC.

Please help! I have this issues with a few AVI files.

Is it possible to convert the files?

I don’t know which parameter I should change.

example:

WDTV does not support “Global Motion Compensation” aka.  GMC

You will have to Re-Encode the entire Avi without GMC to be playable on the WDTV

Your video has GMC

Thanks for your quick reply.

Do you know which program I should use to re-encode my files?

I just checked some other files.

Here there is no warppoints in gmc…

What’s the problem here?

dunno about that one Aydwyn ?  … dodgy corrupt perhaps ?

for re-encoding … i use Handbrake. if you’re in a hurry choose MPEG-4 (FFmpeg) mp4  if not … then H.264(x264) mkv

(sometimes i use Avidemux or Virtualdub or XVID4PSP depending on wether i wanna get fancy with filters and upsampling audio channels etc)

anyways, there’s heaps of software you can use to re-encode a video with (Google is your friend)

P.S. I just noticed your video clips have a pretty short duration … re-encoding them will not take long

depending on your PC maybe 10-15 mins ? each (if that)

I don’t know for that one too.

For the first one, I reencoded with AVS video converter and it works fine!

Thanks again!

IIRC few standalone players support Qpel, GMC, packed bitstream (the latest of which can be removed with MPEG4 Modifier without recoding).
