2.01.86 firmware did not update (or maybe it is) - how to force firmware update from USB stick

Hi,

started automatic update via internet to 2.01.86.

Download completed 100%

Firware update ended with error “Update did not complete, please restart WD Live device and try again”

Did not watch firwmare update progress so I do not know did it reach 100% or when this error appeared - just saw this when I return after couple minutes to the room.

Restarted device, it says “Current version: 2.01.86”. So it looks firwmare update was completed, everything works ok, new features are present (new services for examaple)

But I want’t to be sure - so question is: how can I force WD Live to re-apply update to 2.01.86, using USB stick.

(i copied firmware files to root of FAT32 formated USB stick but as device thinks it is already 2.01.86 does not shows New Firmware available)

How to force WD live to re-apply update?

Edit the wdtvlivegen3.ver  file (use a text editor eg notepad or notepad++)

Change this …

VERSION=‘2.01.86’
LOCATION=‘wdtvlivegen3.bin’
PKG_LOCATION=‘wdtvlivegen3.pkg’
ROOTFS2=‘wdtvlivegen3.bi2’

to this

VERSION=‘3.01.86’
LOCATION=‘wdtvlivegen3.bin’
PKG_LOCATION=‘wdtvlivegen3.pkg’
ROOTFS2=‘wdtvlivegen3.bi2’
