change video display ratio

Hi,

the way we can zoom and pan when video are displayed is great. But one key feature is mising to be able to change the video playing ratio. it would be great to be able to select to play the video in real size, in full screen, in fit-to-screen or full screen with original ratio (the same way you can select the display format with windows media center). Most of the movie are in a different ratio than 16:9 and when the wd live streaming play them, it adds black area on top and bottom. If we zoom, we lose part of the image on the right and left. Changing the ratio should modify the video display but it could extend the video size to its maximum and fully cover the screen.

thanks

Lionel

Hi, can you help clarify why the aspect ratio setting in Audio/Video output is not good enough?

i had a popcorn hour device before and i m frustrated as well. no way to get the image full screen on my samsung tv. i hope we ll get the feature in an update. even if my pch had a basic sad interface, change the ratio is a standard feature and i think i ll switch back to it.

totally agree with the garedny.the 4:3 to 16:9 should be a standard.every player i tried has this option.

Curious that this is not a standard feature in this device. very basic feature, i hope it will be added soon in the firmware

+1. and would be great to control the switch between ratio mode with a shortcut on the remote control as the function could be nearly used with all video and different ratio.

also if it's possible that the wdtv live streamer can save the settings of which videos were stretched.that way i dont have to press the button every time i play the music videos. xbox xbmc had that feature but i guess  i needed to upgrade:smileyhappy:

And an option to manually scale on vertical and horizontal.thks

This option would be completly pointless. Since all you would get is an stretched image where circles would look like ovals, and everyone looks slimmer and deformed.

I cna't believe so many people agrees in the need to add such option. WD TV Live Streaming doesn't "adds" black bars, it just shows the movie as it should..in its original aspect ratio as it was decided by the movie's director.

It's one of those bizarre religious beliefs...

"I paid for a 50" screen, I want to use ALL of it!"

The only somewhat valid reason I've heard is to prevent phosphor burn in older or cheaper plasma TVs.  (Good ones don't burn in.)

it should stay an option for each video, so that people who wants to keep the original ratio will have this default mode used. but i don't see any prb in having this option in the device, most of my movies are not covering the full screen surface, i'd also like to keep the original ratio but i'd prefer to get the right and left side cut (compared to have black surface added to keep the full video and original ratio). definitively +1, a standard option in most of the video player and device.
