Media Library - 'Enhancing' Genre management as well as Movies / TV Series handling

Dear all,

may i suggest to consider enhancing the Media Library capabilities with

1) Support for Movie and TV Series Genres (as of today, one cannot honestly call the Libraries' capabilities 'leading edge').

1.a) currently, only one genre seems to be supported per movie/series. If a movie is associated to multiple genres (as it's probably the case in 90% of all movies), only the first genre (as per metadata) seems to be compiled into the Library.

1.b) genre thumbs - i understand currently there's no option to use "genre thumbs" (gallery view, filter by genre). Instead, i believe simply the movie thumb of the first movie related to a genre is displayed. There doesnt seem to neither any option to either display "firmware genre thumbs" nor "custom theme provided genre thumbs".

2) Handling of TV Series and Episodes correctly (see various posts out there) in parallel to Movies. Especially important, as i'm forced to structure my movies into genre folders. This doesnt match the structure for TV Series (Series / Episode / ....)....

Remarks:

A) Currently, i'm forced (like many others out there as well - just scan the various posts hereto) to

i) switch of Media Library due to the above, and use "network shares" as media sources directly.

ii) structure all my movies and TV series into a "genre oriented" folder structure.

B) TV Series - maybe this term is a bit misleading as well (just sharing my own personal experience). Many many movies are actually TV Series. Probably 70% of my kid's movies are actually regarded "TV Series" (by imdb and the like) as i found out just recently and thus need to be reflected as TV Series accordingly in order to "get content info" (either on the WDTV itself or via thumbgen). So we're certainly not just talking a share of one or two (or less than 10%) of all 'videos' here....

I like the WDTV very much in all other aspects (i even switched from another NAS vendor to use a mybook live in order to get my "home media" environment running), however the above really is a major drawback to me and the experience i can achieve with the device. I also believe after searching for solutions through the various communities, that quite a bunch of people might feel the same as of today. Enhancing the WDTV with the above would really create a great user experience to everyone out there, and get the WDTV ahead of the pack of competing products out there!

Thanks a lot,

Frank
