I not sure how to evaluate my connexion speed

Hi,

I’m trying to evaluate the speed of my network, even if I do not have any problem streaming large file (12 gb MKV file). Some tests that I made concern me. Here is my setup:

WD TV Live Hub

Router: Cisco WRT400N

USB Wifi: Linksys WUSB600N

My PC: Windows 7

I’m using the 5ghz frequency

Because there is no tools on the WD live to evaluate the speed, the only test I can think of is to copy a large file on the local HD of my LIVE Hub or send ping command.

Copying file from my WIndows 7 to the local HD of the Live Hub gave me around 4.40 m/sec, so around 40 mbps / sec.  This is not very good considering the capability of the 802.11 N standard on the 5ghz freqency.

The ping test gave me this result: (ping -l 10240)

I would like to know what speed are you getting on your network so I can compare to mine,or what test did you make to evaluate the speed of your network

Thanks for your time

Charles-Andre

I get around 5 to 7 MB/sec, sometimes I get up to 9, but I can stream movies without any issue.

If you don’t have issues streaming movies, why worry?
