Will a wdtvlive drive a computer monitor?

hello all,

I’ve got a wdtvlive at home that I love. We have used it for years with our media library and have been very happy with it.

I’ve got a spare computer monitor lying around that I would liek to use as a digital photoframe of sorts to display an image library of abotu 6400 photos.  My monitor has a dvi input.  If I were to purchase a cable to convert from hdmi to dvi, could I hook up the wdtvlive to that monitor? I’d love to have it run a slideshow off the wdtvlive of my image library that is found on a connected usb drive.

Would that work?  Or am I missunderstanding what I might be able to do?

sounds reasonable, should work the same as if you connected the WD to a TV

that’s what I was thinking.

Woudl I be able to point the WD to my computer’s iphoto library as well?

it can access smb (windows) network shares, so if it’s correctly set up and shared, yes
