Wrong Resolution when in AUTO

Hi, there.

I live in Brazil and have a LG 50PK950 Plasma TV. It is a Full HD (1920 X 1080) native display.

My notebook and my XBox 360 set automatically on 1920 X 1080 (1080p 60Hz) resolution, but WDTV Live (firmware 1.06.15) insists setting on 720p 60Hz when in auto resolution mode (manually I can set it to the native TV resolution). I tried with all the HDMI cables and inputs, but the problem still persists.

What is going wrong with the WDTV Live? Is it getting EDID info the wrong way? Is there any solutions to this problem?

Here goes the EDID info I got with EDID Manager software:

Try using MonInfo instead of EDID Manager, as EDID Manager does not report your TV correctly.    It reports it as made by “GSM.”

I loaded your HEX data into MONINFO, and it reports it correctly as made by “LGE.”  So I wouldn’t trust EDID Manager if it can’t even report the manufacturer correctly.

Also, it completely omits the extended EDID data.

I can also tell you this:   Almost all LG TV’s mark 1280x720 as the NATIVE resolution, not 1920x1080, in the CE VIC section of the extended EDID data, and that’s what WD looks at.

My LG 55LX6500 does the same thing as yours.

Hi, there.
