Just purchased a WD Live PLUS at Costco, all works fine, setup was easy. I have a Synology DiskStation with a built in media server. WD Live Plus sees it and I can play movies with no issues.
My buddy has a new WD Live and he can highlight a movie hit options and it will go get info for the movie, cover art etc.
Will the PLUS not do this, I really want to be able to scape the art and info.
Correct. The PLUS does not have that capability.
Darn. I had to by the PLUS as it is the only WD Live with component out which is all I can send to my projector in my theater ( no HDMI )
Maybet WD should rename it to the WD Live MINUS
You can look at the WDTV Live HUB, which also has Component, and has most (if not all) of the same features of the 2011 Live SMP (except for no built-in WiFi.)
Do you think there will be anychance of a firmware to make the plus do this, or will we see no more updates for the PLUS?
VERY doubtful, even if they continue FW updates, that they’ll add that feature.
