I have just bought the WD TV Live and so far I am very happy with it.

One thing I like is that for most of my videos it has downloaded cover art. However, I Have a small handfull which for some reason this hasn’t happened.

At present I only have MKV files.

I have compared the metatags on a file that has downloaded an image and one that hasn’t, and there is very little difference. In both cases, the name is merely the file name. (I used VLC to check).

I have tried changing the name to remove the file extension, but this has made no difference.

What determines whether a file gets the details downloaded? Is there a way I can manually do this?

have you tried to select the video, and then click the options button.  there you will be given an option to “get content info” …  

sometimes it finds more than one movie that will fit your title… ( uses TMDB.org) 

so if it does, it will let you choose the one that fits your MKV.
