Static betwen .wav music files

Hey Guys,

I’ve seen an OLD thread here http://community.wdc.com/t5/WD-TV-Live-General-Discussions/Static-between-WAV-music-tracks/m-p/90365#M16330.

As this is only my second posting couldn’t find how to continue that thread - hence the "New Subject’!

PLEASE how do I play my .wav uncompressed music files thru the WD TV Live without the heart attack inducing static shhhhhh (LOUD) at the end of each track?  I’m not a techie so grateful if you could KISS…

I rip all my new music in .wav for uncomprised audiophile sound on my mail music system & use the WD TV Live to play the same music in my other Audio/Video room!

Thanks in advance.

If you read that thread you will see that it said the problem was data info in the wav. How do you rip your wav files and is there any extra info included in the file.

Hey thanks richUK.

I use dBpoweramp, uncompressed wav and use ID3 data for my info and album art.  I do not think there is a way to avoid the ID3 tag while ripping w dBpoweramp - and in any case am quite fanatic at inputting as much info as I have.

It’s been suggested by a techie friend that “Yes, WD needs to modify their firmware with a codec that recognises where the RIFF data ends and the ID3 data begins, so that the codec doesn’t try and play the ID3 data. It’s a trivial tweak, but virtually impossible to reverse engineer without source code …”

If so, why wouldn’t the WD guys have this in their firmware update (along with the now free apple lossless decoding)?

In one fell swoop they would immensely upgrade the music usability of this already fine sounding device!

thanks in advance…

From what I read on the internet there is no real standard for wav tagging so it would make it a bit difficult for WD to implement.

However you can turn off the tags. See here

I’ll have a looks - thanks again!
