Remote not directing WD

Hi

I have two WD units about 18 months old. Recently one of the units refused to accept commands from its remote. I have checked remote infared with digital camera and found to be OK. Have also updated firmware on WD. Still commands not accepted.

Remote from other WD works perfectly on both WDs.

Remote still sounds faulty or there is problem with WD not accepting commards.

Can anyone offer a fix.

What are the model numbers of your players?

Are you saying that both of the players work OK with one of the remotes but the other remote does not work on either?

Are you assuming that the remote is OK because you can see the infra red led light up?

Have you changed the ‘faulty’ remotes batteries?

Hi RichUK

Model #s appear to be P/N WD00AVP-00.

Yes exactly, both players work OK but one remote has suddenly stopped working on either machine.

And yes I am assuming that “faulty remote” appears OK? because it lights up my digital camera.

Fresh batteries have been installed as well.

I am hoping for maybe advice on fixing the remote or where to obtain a new remote rather than purchase a new media player.

It appears that you have a WD TV HD Player gen 1

You can buy one from WD

or from ebay by searching for

NEW Western Digital WD WDTV TV HDMI HD Media Player Remote Control WDTV001RNN

or you can get a programmable learning remote control and ‘learn’ the controls from your working remote.

Hi RichUK

Thanks for your reply.

I will proceed by replacing the unit.
