Remote freezes Please Help!

I recently got a WD TV Live for a gift but I can’t seem to get the remote to stop freezing.  Usually happens when I pause or try to fast-foward/rewind.  I thought maybe it was the batteries but it’s not.  I did some reading and found out the most common problem is the firmware. 

My problem is I don’t have the internet running to my TV and I don’t have wireless.  All I have is my computer with cable running to my modem and my TV setup downstairs. 

How would I go about updating the firmware to get this fixed in my situation?  I thank you for your time and hope to hear from someone soon.

Which WD TV do you have?

You can update by downloading the firmware to your computer and then updating your player via a flashdrive.
