RE: WD TV Live stopped working - won't load files-RESOLVED

WD TV Live stopped working - won’t load files (RESOLVED)

(You can find original postings on this problem here:

http://community.wdc.com/t5/General-Discussions/WD-TV-Live-stopped-working-won-t-load-files/td-p/16445/page/2

as a reply to this common problem, I have a solution…

1)del the wd.tv_ dir on your external hdd…

2)download this - http://wdc.com/wdtvlive_limitedpublicbetarelease/ (WARNING: This is for the WD HD TV Live Player ONLY)

3)download this beta fw and upgrade with it

Now at first, after system is upgraded and has rebooted for the first time, you might get a message that says:

‘The file format is not supported’  FOR ALL YOUR FILES!

At first, I paniced, and thought great, I’ll need to downgrade back or something.

But I clicked on the same file 5-6 times, and wallah! it started playing the video file (that was an MKV btw)

If you have any problems, or this worked for you pls let me and others know by replying to this thread!

(p.s I have also tried other formats/files and those have also worked now!)

Welcome to the forums.

You can also solve this issue by simply not downloading MKV files that are badly made (with a version of MKVMerge greater than 4.0) or remuxing said files with MKVMerge 4.0.

Note that the beta firmware does create other problems you may not want.
