Help on MP4 not playing sound for newbie

Yep, AAC 5.1 is pretty much useless on the Live players.

To get it playing, and have surround sound, try the following:

  1. Get MKVtoolnix from here.  You want a version prior to 4.1.0 for simplicity (i.e. 4.0.0 or lower)
  2. Using MKVmerge GUI (part of MKVtoolnix), convert (“remux”) the MP4 to an MKV.
  3. Get Popcorn MKV Audio Converter from here.
  4. Convert the MKV you created above from AAC 5.1 to AC-3 audio.
  5. Play the new MKV it creates!
