Connecting media player to a vga projector through hdmi port

Can someone tell me if you can use a hdmi to vga adapter to use from the player to a Panasonic projector. I can hook up the composite video, but that’s only 480. This projector can handle 720 and 1080p. If I can use an adapter. Could you tell me what brand adapter to use.
