Can a .pls playlist file access internet stream?

Hi,

I’d like to be able to listen to Soma.FM using my WDTV Live instead of my Roku box.  Soma.fm publishes a playlist (.pls file) for each of their channels, but of course the .pls does reference “local” content, it is of the form “http:// ”

WD claims the box can handle .pls files.  The box is connected to the internet.  So far so good, all the right pieces are in place, right?   Not really I think.

When I drop a soma.fm .pls file on a local drive, it shows up as a folder (?!?!?) in the media browser.  And it doesn’t open to play music.

Is there any way around this?  Am I doing something stupid?   I can’t imagine that WD doesn’t support this type of content in a .pls file.

Thanks for your help.

I think you will find that the player only supports playlists of music located on your drive and not internet streams.

If you had a new Live Streaming Player you may be able to get it via tuneIn.
