Can I install Black Mamba Theme on First Gen WDTV Live?

Or is this only possible on the SMP?

Nope

(eg. Different devices use different XML reference for views eg. rv_gallery_browse_page.xml exists in Gen 3 (SMP / HUB) but does not exist in Gen 1 or 2 devices even if you run WDLXTV or not.)
