Cannot play avi and wmv files

Hi Rich UK , the x3 player I presume is for my windows player so I can view the movie on my PC ( comes up as a warning at the beginning of the movie ), thanks for the info on codecs in future when I download I will check this and shop around for a different source ( Im a bit new to this , thanks for your reply ) .
