whoa, this is quite unbelievable.

Just how many firmware will WD take to resolve the grainy, cropping thumbnails and png issues?

I mean really? It has been far too long. Too long. Sigh.

Still unable to enable the Twonky server via the web interface…

After going to the WebIF, select Media, Click to enable Twonky, Click Submit (or Launch Twonky).

Either way, it just opens a new window with the main WD Interface and does NOT keep the selection to enable the Twonky server.

Problems with Internet Radio. Do not play RMF Classic and others in the group. The firmware 3.0.28 a problem does not exist.

Hello. This question is for Bill regarding post #2 of this tread. Should we hold of doing a FW update or is it safe now? Could you clarify that statement. I will not update until I’m sure it is ok to do so.

I have an American Hub which I have been using with Netflix in Denmark (via us-unblock). However, since updating to the latest firmware yesterday Netflix and possibly the other “only in the US” apps is/are gone.

How do I get it/them back? Could it be as simple as changing the time zone of the Hub or how does it determine where in the world I am?

@TheCoolDude

There is nothing wrong with the update.

What he means is they now have an option to see a “Whats been updated” tab on the update screen.

Just don’t click it and just get the update as normal.

I believe you need to ENABLE it via the Hub’s On-Screen UI, not the Web Interface.  Give that a try.

Bummer.  Upgraded and they still haven’t fixed the movie thumbnail not showing up issue.   An issue I posted here: http://community.wdc.com/t5/WD-TV-Live-Hub-Issue-Reporting/Movie-cover-art-thumbnail-not-displaying-v3-00-28/idi-p/302292

I cleared out my media library cache, set Get Content Info to auto and the thumbnails STILL don’t show up!

DLNA Media Server and iTunes Server are both Enabled in the WD UI on the box…

I’m not the only one with this issue either, see here:

Does it fix the SAOD (Spinning Arrow of Death) ?

I can confirm that problem on TuneIn (which I am assuming is what you mean by internet radio) That specific station is giving me the error message “Unable to play the selected file. Please see the User Manual for a list of supported file formats”. I am not having issues with my other pre-sets though.

The update went well, and it didn’t break anything that I’ve noticed.

But it didn’t fix the corrupted RSS FEED problem from this issue that started with the previous firmware:

http://community.wdc.com/t5/WD-TV-Live-Hub-Issue-Reporting/RSS-FEED-listing-quot-catalog-quot-becomes-corrupted-and/idi-p/313406

That problem wasn’t listed in the release notes, but I had hopes. Shucks.

Yes it is ok now …thx

still get the “spinning arrow of death” when watching a movie with 5.1PCM track/s after 5-10 seconds.

mediafly is still in the services list.

the issue with the wrong channeloutput of stereomaterial is resolved.

After update to this new firmware (through internet autoupdate), network shares are no longer working for me, the were working with the previous firmware, but after update it just searches and searches and finds nothing.

The device is connected to the network, when doing network connection test it passes all, I can access the device from other computers as well without problem (transfering files & through the webinterface)

Edit: Nevermind, i hadn’t thought to try to shutdown, pull the power cord then reconnect after a while and then boot up the device… that fixed the share problem.

So after this update, one thing that I’ve noticed:

When I’m scrolling through files in My Media LIbrary for a while, the Hub just restarts. This has happened 3 times already. Anything I can do to fix this?

Also, this has happened with previous firmware, when I try to access my PC files running Serviio, when I play a video file, the file will freeze if I try to fast forward and then my Hub says that the content is not found. I have tried disabling my firewall totally and allowing all proper ports and applications in my firewall, but I still have the problem. If I use the “Play To” option in Windows 7 to play to my Hub, everything works fine, fast forwarding, pausing, etc.

Lastly, very disappointed at a few options that should have been added or fixed after the first firmware release already:

  1. A sleep timer: Come on WD! There are VCRs with sleep timers.

  2. Fixing the “The” problem with Metadata: Files that start with “The” in the title are arranged by the letter T and should be arranged by the next word in the title.

Device reboots when playing music after Firmware Upgrade 3.03.13

See/comment/kudo posted Issue in the exchange here:

http://community.wdc.com/t5/WD-TV-Live-Hub-Issue-Reporting/Device-reboots-when-playing-music-after-Firmware-Upgrade-3-03-13/idi-p/362419

Short Summary:

- What happened?
Device reboots while listening to MP3 music files.

- What were you doing?
After starting playback of MP3 files, I did nothing.  More specifically:

  1. Turn on Device normally.
  2. Browse to Music.
  3. Browse to and select (with the play button) any of the following folders:
  • All Tracks
  • Artist  >  - ALL -
  • Genre/Song  >  ( - ALL - or any Genre)
  1. Music may reboot at this point or may start playing, but after anywhere from 1 to 5 songs the device reboots.
  • UPDATE:

I hadn’t tested for this issue with photos at the time of this posted but can now confirm that these issues also apply in exactly the same way to Photos. To restate:

PHOTO SLIDE SHOWS IN RANDOM / SHUFFLE MODE WILL ALSO REBOOT THE DEVICE.

Has anyone tried their optical output in this release?   I see one PCM fix, but nothing about the toslink.

So since I updated the firmware my files have been recognized 7 times each. hard to find the move you want when you have to scroll through a title 7 times. Then I disconected and reconected my external hard drive and all that is showing up is 3 titles when I plug the drive into my mac it showes 400 but now the hub only recognises 3? also downgraded back to the last update. no change… only seeing 3 of 400 titles.
