Playback Stutters or freezes with certain files

Hi All

I’ve got the hub on the latest firmware version and it stutters/freezes on certain files.

It seems to be 3D files that have a problem.  For instance one is a download of the LG 3D Demo and only 266Mb, yet on playback through HDMI it always freezes a minute or 2 in.  Only a restart of the hub will unfreeze it.

On larger files the playback will stutter for a while before eventually freezing.

If I play the files from my hub over wireless to my laptop they run absolutely fine all the way through, which does not seem to make much sense.

Any ideas folks?

Thanks

Jon

Thanks for looking.

This is one of those “Weird Files.”

For one thing, its profile is “Baseline@L1.3”

Baseline@L1.3 doesn’t support High Definition Video.

According to the AVC standards, the minimum profile for 1920x1080 video is Baseline@L4.0.

The maximum bitrate for Baseline@L1.3 is 768 kilobits per second, but that video has an average bitrate of over 10X that amount.

So in other words, while an LG device might be able to play it, the video is nonstandard and WAY out of specification.

Thanks for that.

How comes it streams ok to my laptop?

Is it just one of those things…?

Different devices & software will have differing tolerances to specification variance.

Ok, thanks for that.

I tried a friends copy of Avatar 3D, I am still to purchase a blu ray player, and this also had stuttering issues, picture break up.

Here is the mediainfo output of that:

So I know for the future, what information do you go to in the output to try and determine the problem?

Format profile : High@L4.1 which is better than the LG demo…

Are you streaming these over a network?  Or playing them via local storage?

These are stored on the hubs internal drive and played over HDMI to my TV directly.
