Oh well use the RPi for £100 or so 7 Linux & its all done

DIY RAID / NAS & 4 way powered usb hub???
Only thinking and posting early AM…cant afford real DROBO NAS kit but maybe could get some of its features from say connecting 4 * 1 Tb USB HDD eg WD Passports to the 4 way hub (only have switched on when needed for use) maybe they WD Passports have RAID to report early defects before a crash? and then use Plex media server software to report contents - after the install use the WD TV Hub live discovery software to sort out any network aspects
From green views I will not run PC or HDD.s when not in use - anyway constant use will soon run into their ? 100K hours ?? before their MTB Failure hours.

I will post this early AM post to the WD TV discussion & Radio & Telly UK to try & get more real AV brains (pink hardware) involved = back to kip & perchance not to dream of huge networks going to infinity & beyond…
