Auto-suggest helps you quickly narrow down your search results by suggesting possible matches as you type.
How are you connecting to your media: media server or network share?
If via media server, please be aware that the DLNA 1.5 spec does not support external subtitles and virtually no media players will successfully obtain the subs (Samsung TVs successfully do this by using a custom media server and non-standard header requests).
The WD TV Live can definitely play AVI files with external subtitles over network shares, as that's how I play them.
