I wouldn’t install any firmware (especially version 1.01.12 as I’ve read a complaint about a unit being bricked with local USB upgrade as well) until and unless its available on their site for download and out there in public for at least a week! This would give you ample time to make sure things are stable. This whole firmware fiasco is a lesson for everyone. Patience is a virtue 
Wait till the new version is out.
