Is the HD TV Live Gigibit enabled?

Can anyone tell me if the HD TV live unit is gigibit capable?

No, the WD TV Live ships with a Fast Ethernet port  (100Mbit).

I bet you could put a usb gig connector on it, though.  Don’t know how ugly that’d be for the little guy to detect and configure, but if you happen to have a gig usb to ethernet adapter around, might be worth a shot.

At least some of those are supported in linux 2.4 as implemented on TiVos (google is my friend) so potentially already onboard the tv live as well.

That’d be added expense for no value.

The WDTV Live is unable to process streams that are faster than 30-40 mbit per second anyway…

It would be very nice to transfer files much faster from the PC onto the connected USB drive.

It wouldn’t help… The processor is limitted.   You can’t even transfer at close to 100 Mbit / sec, so a Gig interface won’t do a thing to improve it.

Gigabit network is for moving large data (like files).

*Streaming a 1920x1080p HD-quality video don’t need more than a 10Mbit/s LAN connection or a 54Mbit/s (802.11g) WLAN connection.

*based on my own tests with several routers, wlan adapters and computers
