Make sure it is NOT formatted as exFat. It should be NTFS or FAT, see http://wdc.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3849/~/explanation-of-exfat-%28extended-file-allocation-table,-fat64%29
Plug your drive into a PC. Right click on it in Windows Explorer, click on Format and it will show you how it has been formatted. If it is exFAT you will need to reformat the drive (I used NTFS).
