Before displaying ANY error message, tell us if the network is working

I find that the unit is slow to respond (or my network is slow to respond) to the unit's coming up and requesting a DHCP response. However, if you go into the options for Music/Video/Files/Streaming content,  the unit will give you some error message, like "files not found"  or 'media folder disconnected'  or 'last media location not found' when it should be saying,  'no internet connection yet with a link to the 'check network connection' dialog.


I think it would solve a lot of the quesitons I've read here....  


Even displaying the IP or a message in the informaton notification box, saying that the unit has connected successfully or not to the network would be helpful.
