My new WD Smartware Passport USB 3 throws ‘Error 1601’ out of the box. I run XP Pro 3 . Need help pls.

Make sure you computer has Adobe Flash Player and Microsoft .Net Framework 3.5 and try to install it again
Tks for info; Both are onboard, Dot Net 3.5 is SP1. Will windows installer have anything to do with the problem?
What are you plugging the cable into, an onboard card? I would try it on a USB 2.0 port, or use just a USB 2.0 cable to see if it still throws that error. You may need to update drivers.
