What does partial backup status mean?

HI,

I have the WD MY Passport Essential SE and the software is slow to open. Once it opens, it takes a long time to caterorize files then it goes into backup mode. What does "partial backup" mean? It backed up what it saw as any changes in files - new or changes to existing? I try to have it backup any Outlook .pst files and they are rather large so I wonder why the backup software is so slow? I had an 3 yr old Seagate external drive and it had a very quick backup software.

Re: What does partial backup status mean?

According to the symptoms that you are mentioning, you could use a WD Smartware Update, first click here to view how to uninstall the current version of WD Smartware.  Then reset the computer and finally download and install the latest version of WD Smartware.

Re: What does partial backup status mean?

testerking, a Partial Backup Warning is an alert presented by WD SmartWare when the backup has a problem. It should present you with a report of what was not backed up (And why) if you are using WD SmartWare Version 1.5.0.
