WD Smartware 2.4.1.9 Update Issue

I am trying to update my Smartware software but when running the installer I get the welcome screen and as soon as I click on Next the installer closes. I have tried uninstalling the previously installed version of Smartware and running the new installer again but I get the same results.  The only Smartware I can install is the 1.2 version on the Virtual CD. 

I am running Windows 7, 64 bit.

Hi, be sure to download the latest .Net framework update before trying to install Smartware.

I had tried running that .Net Framework installer early in the troubleshooting process and it exited saying that a newer version was already installed.

I had .Net Framework 4.5.1 installed so I uninstalled it and then installed the .Net Framework 4.0 provided in your link. That resolved the issue.

Apparently the SmartWare installer isn’t compatible with .Net Framework 4.5.
