WD File Management engine is burning my RAM

It has happened 2 days. RAM usage is always 100%. Resource Monitor found that wd file management engine use the rest of RAM. I have 4 GB of Ram and it use 1.8GB. It slow down my PC.

I also found out that “svchost.exe (LocalServiceNetworkRestricted)” use all of harddisk bandwidth at the same time.

Now I cope with problem by stop the “wd file management engine” process.

What should I do in the long term? How did it happend?

Nothing to do, WD says it’s been “fixed” in the latest update but Skynet still does what it wants. Either install a memory manager to set peaks, or uninstall Smartware/Skynet.

what is a memory manager and where do I get it?

Basic rules:

  • close an application when it’s memory load exceeds a certain level
  • close an application when it’s CPU time spend exceeds a certain time
  • close an application when it runs for a period of time
  • turn off the computer when a certain application ends
  • run an application when the selected application starts
  • run an application when the selected application ends
  • alert when an application starts
  • alert when an application ends
  • alert when an application’s memory load exceeds a certain level
  • alert when an application’s CPU time spend exceeds a certain time

Thanks Pizza…

Any time.
