Are you doing a file or category backup? Are you sure they were chosen to be backed up? What type of files are they? Below is a image of some of my photo backups performed by SmartWare, category backup. They have numbers and dashes.
I suggest you open up SmartWare and click on the Help tab and read all the information that is provided along with looking at the User Manual. A link to the Online User Manuals is provided at the bottom of the Help tab page.
