I currently have installed in my system the following drives, 1/ 240gb Intel SSD, 2/ 1TB ea WS HD and would like to know if I can use the Acronis 2014 software on the new Passport Ultra 2 usb 3.0 I’m in the process of buying or must I use the WD Smartware software? If I’m able to use either which would be the better of the 2? Thanks TC
You should be able to use 3rd party utilities and applications with your WD Passport Ultra as long as they support USB devices. However, I would recommend confirming if a particular configuration related to file system or sector alignment must be applied first.

As an example, if an application does not support exFAT and your disk drive is formatted as such for Microsoft Windows and Apple Mac OS compatibility, then it will need to be reformatted.
