WD ShareSpace slow network speed

It looks like a very old issue and still does not solved.

Anyone know the status now?

I flash my device to the latest FW but the network speed still 6MB/s~12MB/s.

Even the FTP service also.

I checked this issue in internet and found this is already discussed over 1 year.

this issue will be solved or will be a available know issue.

Your network is probably fine. It’s the Sharespace. IT’s hardware simply isn’t up to the task.

Is that mean no chance to make the network work as spec (1GB ethernet)?

I do not how the bolgger can promote this product w/ in their blog or news.

Small Netbuilderfeatures lots of comparisons. But you won’t find the Sharespace mentioned there, AFAIK, because it simply doesn’t perform.  It’s probably OK  as a slow backup device but that’s about as much as I can say. The one I had wasn’t even able to maintain the stream for 720p video, let alone 1080p.  When I contacted WD support at first they tried to shift the blame to me and my (excellent) 1G network infrastructure. As my complaint got escalated I eventually got  confirmation that as I had suspected all along, the Sharespace’s hardware just wasn’t up to the task.

I took my Sharespace  back to the store within days of buying it for a refund,

But have a look at Small Netbuilder’s NAS reviews.  I have a Thecus and a Qnap these days. Excellent performers both.

Really thank you very much.

I can not return this device due to it’s a gift that took from USA to TW.

I will try to find another NAS for my home entertainment. Sharespace… forget it.
