Hi, I’ve recently bought a DS6100 which came with Windows 2012 R2 but I would like to install Windows 2008 R2. Is this possible? I’m not too bothered about the WD customisation if I can’t get it back.

Possible? Sure
I would really recomend taking out the 2 system drives and inserting another 2.5 drive with to play with. They are cheap enough and you would be able to fall back to the original if you need to.
Fans will blow full speed without the WD software. and if you load 2012 you will have storage spaces for the 4 drive bays.
Well I tried but I didn’t get very far!
I installed a new 2.5" drive and booted up from a USB drive containing Windows 2008 R2 but I kept getting a “secure boot” message. I tried looking for it in the BIOS to disable it but no luck. I know the USB drive works fine as I used it to install Windows 2008 R2 on a Dell server recently.
Any ideas?
Not really. I guess you tried changing the 2 choices under advanced, trusted computing?
I don’t find secure boot anywhere either
