hey guys, i got a 1tb wd passport … it is password protected … when i plug it in the screen doesnt come wher i can enter my password … and when i start my laptop this is the error i get - " wd smartware has stopped working, windows is checking for a solution " … so i assume this is the problem … how can i fix this as i have very important data on the tb n its not in warranty also

Hi there, ignoring Smartware you should have a Smartware VCD/WD Unlocker when you go to computer/my computer and it should ask you for your password. If that doesn’t work then just install Smartware on another Windows computer, unlock your drive there, and then permanently remove the password under settings> drive settings (Setup drive)> security.
That will at least let you use your drive on your computer until you get smartware fixed.
