anone ever have a problem with their wd elite me passsport ext. hd asking for a password when u never set it up for one? Mine wont let me in and i have EVERYTHING on it pics, music etc. this started about a year ago and ive tried everything but hiring a hacker and wiping it. I do NOT want to wipe it. any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

About all you can try is to use another user account like the guest account or another PC. There is no reset.

The drive seems to be corrupted

try updating the firmware to see if that helps 

if no go you will need to take to a recovery company
