i cant see my wd500gb external disk on my desktop and laptop. my desktop has a OS of windows XP and my laptop’s OS is windows 7 and i cant see it now on both of them.before i can operate it smoothly on both of them until one day i cant see it on my computer to access. i checked it in my disk management,device manager, and i can eject it but i cant see in my computer. i tried the cmd chckdisk f: that i read in this forum but it said in the cmd that it cant be accessed directly…can it be fixed without formatting it?because i have important files thats on that disk…hoping you can solve my problem…thank you
Try doing a test with DLG.
in the extended test it says too many bad sectors…on the first one it says
quick test did not complete!
status code = 07 (failed read test element) , Failure Checkpoint = 97
(Unknown Test)
SMART self test did not complete on drive 1!
what does this mean?does my files in the external disk can be retrieved? can it be fixed?its still on warranty on the retailer…
