How to get warranty period again

Unfortunately, Western Digital does not repair drives. We will gladly replace the unit as long as the drive is under the warranty agreement. 

The warranty is for the entire drive not for a specific part of the unit. I’ll suggest you to contact WD directly by phone or email for this case.
